Hosting provider

The hosting provider is an important link where the use of the software is concerned which is why hosting providers are involved during the implementation of our SaaS Escrow solutions. The SaaS supplier becomes a mutual client.

The purpose of a SaaS Escrow arrangement is to offer users continuity when this continuity is threatened because of non-technical (economical) reasons. Where with traditional client-server Software Escrow providers secure the source code, such an IT risk management strategy will offer little or no security for hosted software.

Increased use of SaaS Escrow - inline with the increasing use of hosted software solutions - is a given as a user does not find it relevant if the discontinuity is technical or economical in nature.

The involvement of the hosting provider might be different in each situation. The most common scenario is where the hosting provider signs a declaration which becomes a side letter to the escrow arrangement. In this declaration the hosting provider guarantees to continue to provide services for a certain period. Continued access to the application and its data is thereby guaranteed and with the material in the escrow deposit and access to the application/data users then have the time to find a structural solution.

We will gladly discuss these and other issues with ISP's of managed services or SaaS applications - sharing knowledge and future cooperation.
