Introduction

The only ICANN approved escrow provider fully dedicated to escrow

ICANN plays a global role in managing the internet, including the allocation of domain names. We provide registry data escrow for new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) such as .amsterdam and .club. What sets us apart is that we are the only ICANN approved escrow provider entirely focused on Software, SaaS, and data escrow services, with no other interests or activities in the domain name industry. We safeguard registry data for more than 400 TLDs, representing over 30 million domain registrations deposited daily. Mandatory for gTLDs, reassuring for ccTLDs, and trusted worldwide for continuity and compliance.

Domain names are recorded with a registry provider through various service parties. If the registry provider ceases to exist, there is a significant risk that your registration will be lost. In such cases, ICANN may intervene. In short: Escrow4All safeguards this proactively. And unlike other ICANN-recognised parties, escrow is all we do.

gTLDs & ccTLDs

gTLD’s – Generic Top-Level Domains

Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) form a large and diverse part of the domain name system. They include both well-known extensions such as .com, .org, and .net, as well as hundreds of newer extensions like .amsterdam, .club, .app, and .shop. These domains fall under ICANN oversight and are operated by accredited registry operators that comply with strict technical and organizational requirements. For gTLDs, registry data escrow is mandatory, ensuring that registration data is always securely safeguarded and that domain name registrations remain protected in the event of registry provider failure.

ccTLD’s – Country Code Top-Level Domains

Country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) are domain extensions linked to countries, regions, or territories, such as .nl, .be, .uk, or .eu. They are managed by national or regional registry organizations that apply their own rules and procedures for registration, transfer, and management. Although ccTLDs are not required to follow the same global guidelines as gTLDs, many registries deliberately choose to implement registry data escrow. By doing so, they strengthen the continuity, security, and reliability of their domain name infrastructure while providing registrants with additional assurance.

No, Domain Escrow and Registry Data Escrow are two different forms of escrow and serve a different purpose.

Domain Escrow is a financial escrow arrangement. In this case, an independent third party temporarily holds the payment during the transfer or sale of a domain name. The payment is only released once both parties have confirmed that the domain name has been correctly transferred. Escrow4all does not provide financial escrow.

Registry Data Escrow is not about money, but about securely storing domain name registration data. In this case, a registry (the operator of a domain extension such as .com or .nl) periodically deposits a copy of all registration data with an independent escrow provider. If the registry fails, this data can be used to safeguard the continuity of the domain name registrations.

The costs depend on your type of TLD, the deposit frequency, and the desired control/service level. Would you like a quick indication? Please contact us.
