The challenge and solution
A Complex Process with Different Interests
Implementing escrow proved to be no simple task. The ICT department at MBO Amersfoort set the requirement, the Marketing & Communication department was responsible for execution, and the website supplier had its own interests to protect. “They had delivered custom work and didn’t want another party to simply take over their efforts,” Anne-Marie explains. “This led to substantive discussions about ownership and intellectual property.”
In this process, Escrow4All played a key role. “They were incredibly patient and continuously helped us think through solutions,” Anne-Marie says. “Our contact person, Tongui, shared examples from clients in similar situations. I really appreciated his patience. His approach truly helped us reach solutions that were acceptable for all parties involved.”
Beyond a Simple Backup
In the past, escrow mainly meant keeping a secure copy of the website. Today, the possibilities are much more sophisticated.
“I thought it was just a matter of saving a backup somewhere, but it turned out to be much more modern than I expected.”
The Result: Security and a Peace of Mind
After a challenging journey, the escrow arrangement is now fully established.
“We have an agreement that has the full backing of our ICT department, the management, and our Marketing & Communication team. It gives us real peace of mind,” Anne-Marie shares.
“Even though the process was intense, I’m truly glad we got it done.”
She emphasizes the importance of the partnership with Escrow4All. “They were persistent, meticulous, and cooperative. They translated legal and technical language into understandable explanations and made sure everyone could agree on the solution. Without them, it wouldn’t have been possible.”
An Important Lesson for Other Organizations
MBO Amersfoort is not the only organization becoming aware of the risks of digital dependency. “Website attacks and data loss are becoming increasingly common. I would advise every organization to consider escrow. It may not be the most exciting topic, but it can save you a lot of trouble.”
For MBO Amersfoort, the escrow arrangement means they are future-proof. Whatever happens, their digital infrastructure is protected. “And that’s a comforting thought,” Anne-Marie concludes.
